who is ellen?
Ellen is a New York City-based creative with a STEM background, who blends scientific understanding with artistic vision. She obtained a bachelor’s in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan, and a master’s in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University.
Growing up in a creative family—with an architect father, musician mother, and designer sister—Ellen was constantly surrounded by creative influences. While her passion for science set her apart, art has always been integral to her understanding of the world. Fascinated by the intricacies of the human body, Ellen sought to understand more than just the cogs and wheels of our biology—she wanted to explore how biology, psychology, and art can interconnect.
Ellen has long struggled to reconcile her dual passions for science and art. However, over the years, she has realized that it doesn't have to be one or the other. Science and art can coexist, and exercising both hemispheres of her brain has become her unique superpower.
Through photography and visual storytelling, she bridges these two worlds, creating compelling narratives across different mediums. Her work spans interior spaces, fashion, health, and wellness, always seeking to reveal unexpected connections in everyday moments. With an eye for both aesthetics and functionality, Ellen's photography reflects her curiosity about how art and science intersect. She captures not just images, but the subtle interplay between form and function, beauty and purpose.
Drawn to warmth, light, and an unwavering desire to encapsulate life’s essences, she invites you to experience the world through her lens, offering the perspective of an artsy scientist.
